Challenge
Mott MacDonald falling behind schedule in their £600k electrical substation/gas installation security upgrade design sub-contract with J Murphy & Sons (JMS).
Multiple designs were failing to meet the agreed delivery deadlines leading to a deterioration in relationship with the client and potential for reputational damage.
We were engaged to put the project on a rapid and robust road to recovery.
Our Approach
- Interfaced with delivery team to understand ‘coal face’ problems and identify systemic project issues;
- Ascertained actual productivity rates to build a robust, realistic recovery programme and agreed this with the design and build contractor;
- Streamlined design production to increase efficiency and quality;
- Developed an open and honest relationship with the Contractor and worked to rebuild their trust. This was aided by realistic planning and only making promises that could be kept.
Outcome
Perspicacity Consult rebuilt trust with the client contact and enabled the project completion by delivering fully checked and assured designs in line with the agreed recovery programme.
